Cultural Awareness Brigade 2023 speaker workshop series addresses the fight for civil rights and equity for underrepresented groups in America. Titled The Past is Present: Bending toward and Abolitionist Education Community, this speaker workshop series consists of four sessions led by intellectual and social leaders of respective BIPOC communities who challenge participants to reconsider historical events and conditions as still present, particularly for traditionally marginalized populations.

The Past is Present series is sponsored by the E.O. Smith Cultural Awareness Brigade (CAB), a student organization that works to unite, advocate for, and support students who identify as members of underrepresented groups, specifically students of color.
