Alexis Moore, EO Senior, was recognized for her piece "Unity" by the Hartford Fair Housing Center. Alexis is the 1st Prize recipient. Her work was displayed from April 1- 15 in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Background of the piece:
"I was informed about the Fair Housing Poster contest by my school's GSA club, and the thing that immediately came to mind upon hearing the theme, was to draw handing creating the sign language word for Unity. In an attempt to includes as many types of people as possible, I then drew various flags to represent gender, disabilities, religion and nationality. I used oil pastel for both of the hands, and colored pencils for the flags. I entered the contest mainly to help pay for college, but also because I am a firm believer in equal rights and peace. I feel absolutely amazing about winning the contest, as I worked extremely hard and dedicated a lot of time to creating my poster, and feel like it accurately represents what Connecticut Fair Housing is all about" according to Alexis Moore.
Please wish Alexis kudos for an outstanding, thoughtful piece!
