What are Media Services?
Media Services are an integral part of the Library Media Center's mission to support and instruct. Educators are expected to learn to use whatever media they need to insure success of their students. Examples of the work done in Media Services include but are not limited to the following:

    • Videotaping classes, sports practices, etc.
    • Designing web pages and supporting similar activities
    • Maintaining audiovisual equipment and Macintosh computers
    • Videotaping programs off-the-air
    • Laminating posters, class seating diagrams, etc.
    • Making thermal transparencies for class use
    • Preparing transparencies/slides from magazines or book
    • Taking Polaroid , 35 mm or digital photos of class activities
    • Setup of video and/or sound in gyms, auditorium, lecture hall or classroom
    • Scanning documents that may be converted to text documents on your computers

How can a teacher take advantage of these services?
You may schedule services by using the Media Center Production Request Scheduling Form or schedule equipment using the Media Center Equipment Request Form . These forms may be picked up at the Circulation Desk in the Library Media Center and when complete, email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. What other resources are available to the teacher?
The teacher may obtain one set of high quality Staedtler overhead projection markers at the start of the school year. Additional markers are available through the Main Office or may be purchased at any office supply store.

How far in advance do I need to tell you if I want something done or need equipment?
As soon as you know you need it, be sure to tell us. Requests should be submitted no less than 24 hours prior to your event or when the equipment is needed. The LMC reserves the right to allow or refuse last minute requests.

May I borrow school equipment for personal use?
School equipment may be borrowed for school use or self-training (by permission of the Library Media Director only).

Do you give instructions on use of the equipment?

May I send a student to pick up equipment from the LMC?
Under no circumstances may a student retrieve, move, or transport school equipment without permission of the LMC Director. Students may, with their teachers permission, use the VCR, TV, and overhead projector in the classroom.

Do you provide assistance with PowerPoint Presentations?

May I request copies of videos or other media?
Commercial videos may not be copied by anyone without written permission from the producer. Programs recorded off the air may be kept for 10 days and used in the classroom. These programs may be kept for an additional 45 days for preview purposes only. After that time, they must be erased.
